Free Printable Mother’s Day Cards. 3 different designs…some you can color! Color and give a personalized card she can’t get anywhere else.
If the average mom in the “real world” is anything like the mothers in the little military world I live in, stuff that the kids have put effort into means more than a card bought on off the store shelf.
With that in mind, I created free printable mother’s day cards. 2 of the designs you can color! Who doesn’t love coloring? And it makes the card personal in a way no store-bought card ever could be.
These are great for:
Teachers: to print out and let their classrooms decorate for mothers.
Mothers: is their a grandma in your child’s life? Would grandma appreciate a card?
Fathers: (if any of you drop by my website) I’m sure your wife would love one of these!
Babysitters/Child care workers: same as the teachers, wouldn’t this be nice to occupy “your” children for a little while?

History of Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day- as we know it today in the United States- started with activist Ann Jarvis. In 1868, she started a committee dedicated to “Mother’s Friendship Day” to foster friendship and community between mothers on both sides of the Civil War. Other sources say that Ann Jarvis called for “Mother’s Work Days” to improve the conditions of the soldiers on both sides of the war.
Ann’s daughter, Anna Reeves Jarvis, established a day of observation in 1908, the first “modern” Mother’s Day.
It became official in 1914 when Woodrow Wilson signed the second Sunday into May as official Mother’s Day.
Sadly, Anna Reeves Jarvis became unhappy with Mother’s Day as it became increasingly commercialized.
Other countries have their own versions of Mother’s Day, some much older than the United State’s version. The English version- Mothering Sunday– dates back to the 16th century!
