It’s Thanksgiving! A time to gather together with loved ones. Time to be thankful for the plenty that we have. The turkey is roasting and filling the house with a delicious smell. The pumpkin pies are done. Now, to keep the kids busy for a little bit. These Nutter Butter Turkey Cookies not only look fabulous, but are a great activity to do with the kids.

No bake time required. Just melt some chocolate and start sticking eyes, noses, wattles, and feathers in the appropriate places.

These are not only fun for the kids, but could make a great table decor item. If you like these, you might also like my Thanksgiving Turkey Cake Pops and Buckeye Turkeys.

I used brown candy melts for sticking the various candies on the cookies. But you can also use white. No matter how neat you are, a little is likely to spread out where you can see it, so I would avoid bright pink or blue. But it’s up to you.

I put down the exact number of M&M’s you need below to make these nutter butter turkey cookies. But to be honest, it doesn’t always cut exactly in the middle, so I ended up using a few extra. But since you’ll have to buy a bag of M&M’s to get the yellow ones, you should have plenty extra.

Nutter Butter Turkeys

Fun and easy thanksgiving treat. These are super cute and easy to make (the kids can help!). Can double as table "decor".
Course Dessert
Cuisine American
Keyword desserts, thanksgiving, turkey cookies
Prep Time 45 minutes
Servings 16 cookies

Ingredients

  • 8 M&M’s yellow
  • 2 red Twizzler licorice sticks
  • 16 Nutter Butters
  • 1 & 1/2 C. brown candy melts
  • 32 small candy eyes
  • 16 Grasshopper cookies
  • 80 candy corns

Instructions

  • Cut yellow M&M's in half to make 16 "noses."
  • Slice Twizzler licorice sticks on a diagonal to make "wattles".
  • Melt candy melts in a small bowl in microwave for 30 seconds on 50% power. Stir. Continue with 30 second intervals (at 50% power), stirring between each heating cycle, until chocolate is melted.
  • Using a lollipop stick (or toothpick or small form), dab a bit of chocolate on the back of a candy eye. Place on nutter butter. Repeat with second eye. Dab a bit of chocolate on back of half M&M. Place on nutter butter for nose. Dab a bit of chocolate on Twizzler. Place on nutter butter for wattle. Repeat with all 16 cookies. Allow to set.
  • If needed, heat chocolate until melted again.
  • Spread a bit of chocolate across top half of chocolate wafer. Place 5 candy corns on each chocolate wafer for turkey feathers. Repeat with all 16 chocolate wafers. Allow to set.
  • If needed, heat chocolate until melted again.
  • Spread a bit of chocolate across bottom half of chocolate wafer (under the feathers). Stick the "head" of the turkey right beneath the feathers. Gently set aside. Repeat with all 16 cookies & feathers. Allow to set.
